A little about me

I’m Jana Zacher, a leadership coach dedicated to helping managers like you build successful, happy teams. My journey to becoming a coach started with my own experiences as a new manager, where I faced the challenges of learning how to lead effectively. Through years of trial and error, I discovered the power of a supportive and collaborative team culture. Now, I’m on a mission to share my insights and help other leaders thrive.

I remember being a new manager, eager to learn but often feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice and information that didn’t quite fit my situation. Over time, I grew into my role and began to see the incredible impact a cohesive team can have on both outcomes and work culture. When I embraced the power of teamwork, I witnessed amazing transformations. Teams flourished, and people enjoyed working together. That’s when I truly became a leader and found joy in my work.

My Coach Approach

With more than a decade of experience as a people leader and 15 years working in process improvement, I focus on thoughtful ways to increase team success while bringing kindness to the workplace. My coaching is for you if you:

I have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. With more than 20 years of operational experience in small to large-size organizations, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective for helping my clients.

My Philosophy

Great leadership is about serving your team. I believe that when leaders create a supportive environment, amazing things happen.

What do great leaders do?
Great leaders support their teams, and the individuals on the team, to be successful. They focus on listening, coaching, empowering, and advocating for their team.

They listen for understanding and encourage dialogue. They also thank their team members for speaking up, which creates an environment where people feel safe to provide feedback.

But that’s just the first step. Based on what they learn from their team members, effective leaders take action. They make changes, advocate for their team, and escalate issues when appropriate.

How should leaders communicate?
Leaders, please communicate more than you think you need to, and be careful about filtering communications for your team. Communicate all that you can, even if you think it isn’t interesting. It may resonate with someone on your team, and it connects them to what’s happening across the organization.

How do leaders show flexibility?
The best leaders know the value of being flexible. You never know what challenges a person may be struggling with, so take the time to listen for understanding and work with them. This could include adjusting their hours or working location. Doing so will lead to their success and ultimately, your success as an awesome leader.

What do leaders need to do for remote and hybrid teams?
Staying connected to team members working remotely requires a little extra effort. For them, schedule video/conference calls for one-on-one updates and team meetings on a regular basis.

Also, set reminders to send team members IMs or emails to keep the dialogue going and stay engaged.

If possible, periodically meet for a team lunch. Or if people aren’t able to meet in person, schedule a virtual happy hour. Connect on a personal level.
